MAC Venomous Villains Collection – THOUGHTS and SWATCHES

MAC Venomous Villains Collection – THOUGHTS and SWATCHES

As some of you may know I went to an unveiling event a week ago for the MAC Venomous Villains Collection with my girl Amy. The collection is now online at MAC and will be in stores on Thu…

I can’t believe this was my DAY!!!

ME & PATRICIA FIELD (she is the designer and wardrobe genius who dressed all the girls on Sex & The City, Ugly Betty and movies like , The Devil Wears Prada!!!)
I woke up this morning thinking that today would be amazing, because I was having breakfast with the girls from ELLE, since I won the ELLE and COVERGIRL Video STAR contest for the WHOLE year! (I couldn’t believe it…I thought I had just won another month of the contest! Not the whole year!!! I was so honored and excited!)
We had breakfast at this cute place with zebra print booths right across from Central Park…and all the girls from ELLE (I’m so sad I didn’t get a picture with them!)…are so wonderful, cute, and so sweet…it was like just hanging out with friends and not editors of a magazine (how awesome is that!?!).
(To Emily Dougherty: you are wonderful…since the moment I met you last year I loved you! So glad people at ELLE are so incredible…I love ELLE Magazine even more, knowing how great you all are!)

then my friend Andi Elloway who lives in LA,  happened to be in NYC working on another shoot…and she asked if I wanted to do a fun NYC shoot! YES!!! So this was a picture of me and her cute lil’ self! (I’ll show you the pics as soon as I get them!

then I got to go to the biggest FOREVER 21 I’ve ever seen, in Times Square and had to pose with this gi-normo Lipstick!!!

Then the icing on my already unbelievable day……we had plans to meet my friend Lauren for dinner, and she tells me that Patricia Field (one of her good friends!), is going to be at dinner with us! Oh my gosh!!! I was so excited!
She is so funny, down-to-earth, nice, and a great business woman! I asked how she got started, where her favorite places to shop are, how long she’s has her amazing red hair….It was so fun!

(my mama, my friends Tina and Lauren, super excited Kandee, and the Ruby-Haired Patricia Field!!)

I was so tired from my “unreal” and dreamlike day….I was so excited to blog about it all…and my mom came into the room to find me asleep on my laptop…smiling in my sleep! ha ha ha
You know you had an amazing day, when someone says you’re smiling in your sleep!!!

This is going down in history in my life as: one of the best days of my life!
Breakfast near central park with the awesome girls from ELLE Magazine…a fun photoshoot….giant lipsticks…then dinner with PATRICIA FIELD!!!

TODAY’s roster: (awesome-ness too!):
going to get my moms hair chopped off at the Ouidad Salon…super short, I’m gonna post it on here tonight!
Going the Patricia Field Store…where Pat herself said she would come and meet lil’ ol me!!!!

I want to scream this is so awesome!!!!

Hyper-excitement and giant lipsticks….your kandee

Getting Health, Another Update

Me, Sept. 2010

In August, I mentioned that I’m currently on a health kick.  Although, to be honest, I am not sure I’d call it a “health kick.”  That seems to imply that I’m just making temporary changes, and that’s not the case. I’ve been working very hard on making changes, and in doing so I’ve noticed that I’m overhauling major aspects of my life.

I said I’d check in monthly to tell you how I’ve been doing on my quest to get healthy…to lose weight, to eat better, exercise, and adopt healthier habits.  Here’s my latest update.  Since my August getting healthy update, I…

  • Lost another 15+ pounds
  • Have had to buy a lot of new clothes–my pants were falling off and almost everything in my closet is too big.  Go me!
  • Continue to love exercise.  I generally exercise 5 to 6 times a week and I credit exercise to major changes in the shape of my body.  I can see the muscles in my arms bulking up (in a good way) and my leg muscles seem longer and leaner.

I feel good and eager to get out and do new things.  I’m still following the Weight Watchers program because…well…it works.  And I like that you can eat “normal” food and still lose.  My portion sizes have come way down and I don’t feel like I’m deprived of anything.

I’m glad I’m finally waking up and paying more attention to food, to exercise, to how I respond to stress…to life in general.  It’s amazing for me to look back on myself before committing to getting healthy–I feel like I was sleepwalking through my life.  Now that I am waking up and making changes, every day is an adventure…a chance to learn, to improve, to grow.  It’s nice!

I’ll give you another update next month.  Like I said, doing so makes me a little bit more accountable.  Also, if any of you are fighting the battle of the bulge or if you’re also on a quest to get healthy, leave me a comment.  What’s working for you?  What are your setbacks?  Leave me a comment and let me know–maybe we can all help each other in this journey!

Caress Girls Night Out

Hi Bellas,

I’m super excited to share with  you pictures and footage of my Caress Girls Night Out.  I’m pretty sure you’ve all heard about Caress…the products are probably in many of your showers right now.  My girls and I partook in an amazing experience that I can’t wait to share with you all.

I’m super pumped to show you all my little video for this girls night out.  I included my VIP girls (Alex, Elizabeth, Karla, Melissa and Saiesha) and I go behind the scenes to show you us going to the nail shop, getting our hair done, to getting ready at the hotel, getting picked up at the limo, and even dancing at the club.

Check out the video!

Caress Whipped Souffle
The whole premise behind Caress’ Girls Night Out was flaunting skin that you’re proud of.  Their new Whipped Souffle body washes help get your skin ready to show off.  My friend Alex has actually been a loyal user of Caress for the past few years.  She was super excited to test out their newest offerings.  I polled my friends, all of which who tried it, and here are our thoughts on the Caress Whipped Souffles.

Pros
-Very creamy and moisturizing
-Bottle opening is at the bottom, therefore Gravity pulls the remaining product down so you don’t waste anything
-Smells great
-Affordable and easily accessible
-Great to use after you shave your legs

Cons
-Only two scents currently available
-If you don’t like fruity scents, not for you

In honor of this fabulous event, I brought my digital camera and flip cam along to document me and my VIP Girls getting ready.  We include super fun little tips on everything from hair, makeup, outfit, to packing your clutch.

Here are our top 6 tips for getting ready for a Girls Night Out.
1) Rub a dub dub, use Caress in the tub.  After shaving, use a moisturizing body wash to prevent dry, itchy skin.
2) Instead of using a comb, use your fingers to comb through your hair to give it body and bounce.
3) When doing your makeup, you can’t go wrong with a smokey eye for a night out.  Save your lips for last so that you can snack and drink as you get ready.
4) To jazz up an outfit, try adding accessories.  A fun waist belt can turn a plain dress into something fabulous.
5) When packing your clutch, just include the essentials – Your lipgloss (this needs the most touching up), ID and Cash, Gum (keep your breath fresh), your camera (to document the memories), and of course your phone so that you can update Facebook and Twitter.
6) Make sure to play fun, getting ready music.  This will get you hype for a night out.
