If Your Man Has A ‘Mo
When I first saw this product, I thought it was a little bit like belly button warmers - completely pointless. But then, I don’t have a moustache (well, er, not like a full-blown one, anyway, ahem). The Moustache Comb, from Kent Brushes is also supporting prostate cancer charity Movember – a month long celebration in November of moustaches and raising awareness for men’s health. For each Moustache Comb sold online, Kent Brushes will donate £1 from the £2.55 to Movember – the charity has already raised £60 million worldwide since it’s conception in 2003. See, it’s a much better idea now.

Manolo Blahnik for Liberty of London Bouton de Rose
It’s almost impossible to walk past Liberty of London without ‘popping’ in – apart from the best Laura Mercier counter in London and stockists of Le Metier de Beaute, the new Manolo Blahnik for Liberty of London – a limited collection of specially designed shoes and other items – is another reason not to walk on by. I’ve spotted this beautiful scented candle developed alongside Lyn Harris of Miller Harris that is fragranced with French violet and Turkish rose. It’s already sold out on line, but apparantly more will become available. Hope so…looks like a keeper. £36.
Le Metier de Beaute Peau de Vierge Tinted Complexion Treatment Fluid Review
Ok, so I have given Peau de Vierge Anti-Ageing Complex the seven days it needed to make a difference to my skin – in fact, it’s eight days. Am I miraculously youthful? Nope. But, that said, the product is an absolute joy to use and I’ve really enjoyed trialling it. I can’t see any obvious signs that the Retinol has made a difference, but the very fact that I’m using a Retinol product said to be 20 times more powerful than any other over-the-counter Retinol products and I’ve had not one hint of dryness is I think somewhat miraculous. When I re-read the instructions today, they said not to dive straight in there but to use every other day to start with – somehow I missed that! So, I’ve used it every day. The texture is less fluid than other foundations, but it goes on very smoothly – there is some shimmer (a pet hate of mine), but I’ve noticed that on sunny days it shows up and on cloudy days, it doesn’t, yet somehow does manage to ‘lift’ your complexion in terms of brightness. (Personally, I feel they could just take out the shimmery bits). It falls halfway between a tinted moisturiser and a foundation. At £90, it’s up there in the price stakes, but this is something I would actually buy because of the Retinol delivery system that works so perfectly (and despite not having visible evidence at this early stage, I’ve got to believe it is doing something), and because the coverage is ideal for every day. A tinted treatment fluid does sum up exactly what Peau de Vierge is – it feels light on the skin, there’s no particular scent and it seems to last well on the skin. And, if over time it makes my skin look more youthful and radiant then it will have been £90 well spent.
There is also a correcting stick, which I wasn’t so taken with – it’s a thick stick formula that does give good coverage but it’s unexeptional and a little too thick.
Swit Swoo….Panthera Mascara from Ultraflesh
Sephora haven’t done this sleek looking mascara any favours with the pic, so I’ve sourced another that shows the panther’s head more clearly, courtesy of http://www.samedelman.com/. For now, this is a stateside only product, but a little bird tells me it may well be on it’s way to the UK. Ultraflesh looks like a fascinating brand – created by Nicole Ostoya and Rogin Coe Hutshing, it combines a fashion focus with innovative technology. I want to see more. The mascara promises to keep lashes soft and conditioned and comes with a brush/comb combi. It’s $26 – so here’s hoping it lives up to its price.
A Very Bling Thing: Model’s Own Juicy Jules
Model’s Own latest colour is this super-glittery Juicy Jules. I’ve layered it (one coat) over a black polish – seriously, this has some sparkle in it! Possibly the most twinkly nail polish I’ve ever use, and the sparkles are multi-coloured. However, I noticed that once dry, the sparkle subdues a little bit, so would recommend a glossy top coat. Here’s what it looks like on. It’s on the site now for £5.
